Holistic Therapies
Ann-Marie manages a successful holistic therapy practice, providing Sport’s injury massage, Thai yoga massage, Reflexology, The Alexander technique and Indian head massage.  Treatments provided are unique to your individual needs and requirements, and often a combination of holistic therapies are used during one single session to improve your alignment, posture and mobility, encourage pain relief, release tension, relieve your health problems or injuries and balance your energy levels.

During my experience of providing holistic therapies I have learnt that providing techniques in sports injury and thai yoga massage, educating you about your posture with the Alexander technique and providing you with yoga techniques to practice in your own time is more beneficial and effective, compared to just receiving a sports massage, in the treatment and recovery of injuries and health conditions.  What is the point in receiving a massage if your going to repeat habitual postural patterns and continue to mis-use your body.  You need to understand the roots of your tension build up and why you are repeatedly injuring yourself or feeling pain and discomfort.

An initial consultation will enable me to gain an understanding of your health problems and injuries and to practice techniques with you, which will help me to identify any postural issues and provide correct treatment to benefit your health.

Sport’s Injury Massage
Massage is a natural holistic therapy, probably been in use since the beginning’s of mankind.
Minor injury is by far the most common musculoskeletal problem which can be extremely painful and can seriously affect a person’s postural alignment, occupation, sport and quality of life.  Long term, if not treated at an early stage a minor injury can sometimes lead to more serious condition.

Massage is not only an excellent way to manage stress and for the maintenance of health and well being, it is also a very effective way to treat injuries, recover from muscular exertion, relieve muscle tension, spasms, aches and pains and restore mobility to injured joints.

Conditions which respond well to Sport’s injury massage include- Anxiety, Arthritis, Tension, Injuries, High blood pressure, Back pain, Sciatica, Scoliosis, Migraines, Insomnia, Fluid retention and Stress.

Alexander Technique
Developed by F.M. Alexander, (1869-1955), The Alexander technique is a method of showing you how you are misusing your body.  We all develop bad postural habits and stress causes chronic muscular tension which causes poor mobility and misalignments to occur.  With Alexander technique you learn to improve your posture, break postural habits and move your body in more balanced efficient manner.

Postural problems affect the whole body- causing an imbalance to the skeletal muscles, energy flow and nervous system.

Conditions which can respond well to the Alexander technique include- Osteoarthritis, sciatica, lordosis, scoliosis, kyphosis, respiratory disorders, exhaustion, tension headaches, aches and pains, back problems, high blood pressure, digestive disorders, injuries and neck and shoulder tension.

Reflexology
Reflexology is a holistic therapy applying pressure to specific reflex points on the feet which correspond to parts of the body.  A treatment works the whole person by stimulating the nerve endings, energy channels and vascular flow to the various organs and structures within the body.  Reflexology is a non-invasive technique requiring only the removal of shoes and socks.  Effective and powerful, reflexology dramatically reduces the feelings of stress and tension and brings a natural state of balance to the mind and the body.

Conditions which can respond well to reflexology include- Anxiety, stress, migraines, hormonal problems including P.M.S., menopause and infertility; back problems, fatigue, Sinusitis, sciatica, Arthritis, insomnia and I.B.S.

Indian head massage
Applied to your head, neck, shoulders, scalp and face, Indian head massage is a mentally and physically very relaxing and soothing treatment.  You can remain fully clothed and seated in a chair or oils can be used depending on your preference.  Ann-Marie combines Indian head massage with Thai yoga massage making this treatment a complete unique experience
Conditions which can respond well to Indian head massage include- Tiredness, Depression, Insomnia, tension headaches, sinusitis, anxiety, muscular tension, neck and shoulder pain.

“I had a shoulder problem for approx 2 years which was very painful and I found it very difficult to work as I work manually and drive long distances.  I was referred to Physiotherapy where they recommended cortisone injections.  Ann-Marie recommended trying some sports therapy first and after 2 treatments my pain disappeared, I was amazed how much better it felt and how much of a difference it made to my day to day routine.  I have had no further pain or discomfort in my shoulder since the treatments.  Thanks Ami”.  C.
